Discovered on January 1, 1801, by Giuseppe Piazzi, Ceres is the smallest dwarf planet in our Solar System. It is located in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter and is the largest object in the belt, containing about 1/3 of the mass of the entire belt. Ceres is named after the Roman mother and grain Goddess, Ceres.
Although it’s not accepted by everyone, some astrologers take Ceres into account when making astrological calculations and have assigned it the ruling planet of Virgo. The planet Ceres in a birth chart suggests that the native feels loved and nurtured and it is associated with family bonds, female reproductive issues and major feminine rites of passage.
